Turning a Basic Brick Fireplace Into a Custom Feature Wall

This home in Ajax, Ontario had an outdated red brick fireplace that just wasn’t working anymore. The homeowners wanted something clean, modern, and functional—a fireplace that could blend with their white walls and become a real feature in the living room.

The Problem:

The existing fireplace had bulky red brick, mismatched tile, and a rustic mantel that didn’t match the rest of the room. It felt like a leftover piece from another era—and not in a good way.

The Process:

We demoed the entire brick surround and took it back to the studs. From there, we built out a brand-new structure with clean lines, added custom trim work, and made space for a wall-mounted TV above the fireplace.

Everything was finished in crisp white, creating a seamless look that feels built-in and high-end.

The Result:

A cozy, modern fireplace wall that works perfectly with the client’s decor and layout. It’s now a clean focal point, not an eyesore—and the mounted TV looks like it was always meant to be there.
