The Yonge and Lawrence TV Wall Design
This client’s challenge: a 143-inch wall with outlets in random spots, poor sight lines from his seating area, and no clear vision of what would actually work.
Design Challenge: Create a floating console that spans the entire wall, hides all electrical, provides storage, and looks intentional rather than like a cover-up job.
Technical Challenge: Mount 130 inches of floating console to concrete walls, route all cables through the structure, integrate PVC marble TV panel with wood slat accents.
Material Selection: Sequoia Mimosa uniboard for cabinet boxes, poplar countertop with black stain, PVC marble for TV backdrop, stained wood slats for accent wall.
Installation Reality: Discovering concrete instead of expected steel framing, drilling precise mounting points, building internal steel structure to prevent sagging, routing cables through console compartments.
