TV WALL DESIGN IN TORONTO

A TV wall that looks like it was always there. Built around your room and everything you own, with every cable hidden. Drawn and built by the same team, from first measurement to the last detail.

THE PROBLEM WITH STORE-BOUGHT

Most TV walls end up as expensive clutter magnets.

You know that wall could look amazing. You just can’t picture it, or figure out where the cables and the outlet will go.

Store-bought units are made for an average room and an average TV, not yours. The depth is wrong for your wall. Your 65-inch TV hangs over the shelves. Nobody planned the cables or the outlet, so you end up drilling through new cabinets or living with a tangle behind the screen. The shelves are too shallow for board games and too tall for the remotes. You paid for custom and got disposable.

OUR APPROACH

Design first. Built as one complete project.

We design your TV wall around what you really store: your TV, your sound system, your kids’ toys, your books. We plan where the cables run, where the outlets go and how the equipment breathes before a single board is cut.

You work with Sandra and Johanna from the first measurement to the last detail, the same way we run a full home renovation or a basement renovation, where built-ins are part of the house, not an afterthought. You see your wall in 3D: how it fits the room, where the outlets land and how much storage you get. Then we build it: framing, drywall, electrical with our licensed electrician, paint, finishes, and cabinets made by the cabinet shop we partner with, installed by us. One project, one team.

We trained as architects, with more than 10 years of building experience. We care about proportion: how a built-in sits against your ceiling, your trim and the rest of the room. It’s the same eye we bring to our interior design work across Toronto. The wall has to belong to the room.

Sandra, Johanna, and her team truly brought our vision for our living room media wall to life. Going through a whole house renovation, we were looking for something super modern and contemporary but not boring, and these guys really came through. From start to finish, Sandra’s communication has been incredibly prompt and very helpful when questions arose. They were also open to additional modifications to the project or custom requests like an extension of the slats, more lighting elements, and handle-free cabinet doors. Something else that also truly shined about their work was their ability to match a very very similar shade of walnut wood finish from our kitchen cabinets. It turned out better than expected and the aesthetic and continuity they’ve brought to our house is chefs kiss to say the least. Their work is a true statement piece for our house and I’m sure it will be for all their future clients as well. Once you see the work, the pricing makes sense, it’s all worth it when you see the final product. Great job Sandra, Johanna, and team. If I ever need this kind of work done, I’ll know exactly who to call. Easy five stars from me

Sandra and Johanna provides a professional service for home improvements and designs. They have lots of ideas. I got my bedroom and family room popcorn ceiling removed, painted, baseboards and crown moulding added in these two rooms. Johanna spends lots of time protecting your area and cleans the place every day before done for the day. I have never heard of rooms actually mopped after work is done. Johanna literally looks for imperfections on the walls and ceilings using headlamp. She is just amazing. I am attaching the picture of the room they left after painting and removing popcorn from ceiling. Keep up the good work ladies. It was an amazing experience working with you. Every dollar spent was worth it. Looking forward to the next project of living room and fireplace renovation. P.S: I removed the electrical outlet cover for replacement.

I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks to Habitual Homes – Sandra and Johanna – for the amazing work they’ve done on my new home. I had a vision, and they brought it to life, executing every detail of the design exactly as I had imagined. They presented me with renderings that showcased the layout and design, allowing me to see how my furniture would look in the space. Despite encountering some challenges, including a car accident, they remained professional and finished the project on schedule, delivering outstanding results. I am truly delighted with how they transformed my new place into my own personal sanctuary. Thank you again, Sandra and Johanna, for your incredible work! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

This was my first time working with Habitual Homes. Sandra and Johanna built a wall unit in my condo, and they made the process very easy. They were responsive and accommodating, and sent the design very quickly when I first contacted them. They understood the concept I had in mind, and brought it to life even better than I had imagined. In the initial consultation, they came over to see the space and brought options so I could choose among various colours, patterns and materials. They also provided great advice based on what they thought would work best for my place. They had great attention to the detail, prepped the place before, and cleaned afterwards. They exceeded my expectations and i’m thrilled with the final results!

Johanna helped us with a few projects around our first house. I must say I really admire her work ethic! She did such a great job and got the projects done within the timeline given! Sandra’s design expertise were really helpful too. Thank you both!

Frequently asked

TV wall questions, answered honestly

How much does a custom TV wall unit cost in Toronto?

A floating console with shelves usually costs $3,000 to $5,000. A full-wall built-in with floor-to-ceiling cabinets, lighting and electrical is usually $8,000 to $15,000. A built-in with a fireplace starts at $15,000. Your number depends on the size of the wall, materials and what goes in it.

How long does it take to design and build?

About 1 to 2 weeks of design. Once you approve it, the cabinets take 4 to 8 weeks to make. Then we install. A fireplace or special finishes can add time.

What materials do you recommend?

It depends on your budget and how you’ll use the wall. We recommend materials case by case: solid wood, plywood with a wood veneer, or engineered panels with a durable finish. We walk you through the trade-offs honestly.

Do I need an electrician?

If you’re adding outlets, moving existing ones, adding sconces, or wiring a fireplace, yes. We bring our own licensed electrician on every project. Our electrician already knows how we work.

How do you handle cable management?

We plan cable routes during design. Holes are drilled through back panels before finishing so HDMI cables, power cords, and ethernet hide behind cabinetry. We position openings where equipment actually sits so cables don’t stretch or show.

Can you work around existing furniture?

Yes. We measure your room and existing furniture during the design. The 3D model shows how the wall unit relates to your sofa, side tables, and other pieces so you understand scale before construction.

What if my TV is mounted already?

We can design around existing TV mounts if they’re positioned well. If the mount location doesn’t work with the optimal wall unit design, we’ll recommend repositioning. We’re honest about when the existing mount works fine.

How do you size shelves for what I’m storing?

We ask what you’re storing during consultation: board games, books, photo albums, electronics, kids’ toys. Then we design shelf depths, heights, and cabinet sizes around those specific items. You get storage that actually works for what you own.

What about ventilation for equipment?

Electronics generate heat. We design open shelving or cabinets with ventilation for cable boxes, gaming consoles, and AV receivers. Equipment doesn’t overheat because airflow is planned from the start.

Can you include a fireplace in the design?

Yes. Many of our TV walls include an electric or gas fireplace as part of the build. We handle the framing, the venting (if required), and the finish work around the fireplace as part of the same project. The fireplace gets designed into the wall from day one, not added on at the end.

How do you price TV wall units?

We don’t give quotes without a design. The Interior Design Plan ends with a 3D of your wall, a scope of work and an estimated budget. Then we give you a build price based on that design. See what the Interior Design Plan costs →
